This morning, NASA's Lunar Crater Observation and Sensing Satellite (LCROSS) is scheduled to crash into a Moon crater and take detailed measurements of the impact. Will they find evidence of water under the surface of the Moon?

Watch a NASA video broadcast of the experiment, and join Museum staff and guest scientists in a discussion on its implications for future human exploration of the Moon. Our guests include Nick Gross, PhD, Boston University Astronomy Department; and Tony Case, graduate student from Boston University Center for Space Physics.

9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., Demonstrations explaining Lunar exploration technology, the distance to the Moon, and more.

10:00 a.m., Lunar crash: See NASA footage of the LCROSS impact into the Moon's surface.

11:00 a.m., Lunar Exploration Hear Boston University scientists talk about CRaTER (Cosmic Ray Telescope for The Effects of Radiation), their contribution to the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.

12:30 p.m., Mission: Space Learn about current and future missions to space, including the Constellation missions to the Moon.
