Features of the MOS Technology and Engineering Curriculum Review Search

The Boston Museum of Science's Educator Resource Center links its contents to educational standards documents in order to be useful and pertinent to educators. Below you can find the list of standards documents used.

Standards Mappings

One of the options available to you in the Technology and Engineering Curriculum Review's advanced search tool is a filter based on educational standards mappings. You can specify both a specific standards document and a depth level for your search.

What This Means

Resources in the Technology and Engineering Curriculum Review are mapped to educational standards on two levels. The two levels of connection between a resource and standard indicate how closely the resource supports the learning and teaching of the standard:

• Core connection: Almost all of the criteria for support of the standard are met by the resource
• Supplementary connection: Most of the criteria for support of the standard are met by the resource

You can narrow your search by selecting a connection at either level.  You can also choose a specific standards document, either at the state or national level.  Four different documents can be currently chosen, and more documents will be added in the future.

Other Features

• Grade range: Specify the range of grades you would like your search results to match. Results are inclusive.
• Evaluation: Select the check box to retrieve only peer-reviewed materials. Many resources in the MOS Technology and Engineering Curriculum Review Search have been independently evaluated, according to a rigorous rubric that holds resources accountable for the depth of their standards mappings, the types of activities used, the design approaches implemented, and the assessment types employed. • Format: This describes the physical format of the resource results, such as book, video, DVD, CD-ROM, or online resource.
